Hospitalised Animals

“We are sorry that your pet is unwell and we understand that it can be a worrying time when your pet is hospitalised.”
Our hospital at Wardley is staffed by both vets and nurses 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
As well as endeavouring to provide the highest quality veterinary attention for your pet, we aim to keep you fully informed of your animal’s progress and discuss any treatment options thoroughly so that the correct decisions can be made for both you and your pet. We aim to telephone you to discuss your pet’s progress - this reduces the potential for wasted time if you phone to find that the vet is busy with another emergency.
It is also very useful for us to have a telephone number that we can contact you on at all times in case there is a change in your animal’s condition.

If your animal has been hospitalised overnight then the day veterinary team will do a full ward round at 8am where all in-patients are discussed, then examined and assessed individually by the vet in charge of hospitalised
animals.
The vet will then endeavour to contact you to discuss your animal’s progress and treatment plan. If you have not heard from the vet by 12 noon then please contact us.
The Veterinary Surgeons aim to discuss your animal’s care with you at least once daily (more frequently if necessary) however, the nursing staff will be able to provide a progress report at other times through the day.
We aim to keep you properly informed about your pet’s progress - should you have any comments (good or bad) then please tell us.
Out of hours we provide emergency cover to 35 veterinary practices in Greater Manchester (along with providing the same service to our own clients). We then provide each practice with the details of each animal seen by fax, so they are up-to-date with your animal’s medical history.
If your pet requires ongoing care, we will contact your own vets to discuss any further treatment that is needed. It may be necessary for you to transfer your pet to your own vets if he or she is fit to travel. |
